These days, Irish youngsters are heading off to Australia rather than America after they finish college. A few years ago, America was the place to go on a J1 visa. Similarly, there isn’t many Irish soccer players in the US Major League as there once was.

There is however, one youngster, Danny Earls, who has made the grade at the highest level of soccer in the United States. His teammate Ciaran O’Brien also qualifies to play for Ireland via his father, Fran O’Brien.
