Ipswich striker Ronan Murray joins Torquay on loan
Republic of Ireland Under 19 international and Ipswich Town forward Ronan Murray has joined Torquay United on loan until the end of the season.
Ipswich have inserted a 24-hour recall clause into the loan contract in case of injuries, and Murray will be available to lineup against fellow Irish striker James Collins when Torquay host Shrewsbury on Saturday at Plainmoor.
Torquay United boss Paul Buckle has been wanting to strengthen his strikeforce, and sees the Irish u19 international as a useful asset. “I am thrilled to sign Ronan,” Buckle told the club’s website. “A lot of clubs have been chasing the lad and I am sure he will be a great addition.
“Steve McCall and Paul Jewell have been great with us and I am very grateful they have allowed Ronan to join our club. He will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s game with Shrewsbury at Plainmoor.”
Murray has played twelve times for Ipswich this season, making seven league appearances in the Championship. He also scored against Exeter in the Carling Cup, coming on as a 72nd minute substitute to make his first team debut.
