In a move that will please thousands of Irish fans,  Andorra have finally agreed to move their home match against Ireland to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Barcelona.

Andorra have thus far played all their home games at The Estadi Comunal in Andorra la Vella which only has a capacity of 1,100. Originally the Andorran FA were insistent that all their home games would be played in Andorra.

This week however, the Andorran FA have written to UEFA to request to move the fixture. As the match is being played in Spain, Spain will have to all ow the match to take place, but that should not be a problem with Spain themselves playing in the Czech Republic that night.

“The Andorran Football Association has written to UEFA to request that the Euro 2012 qualification match be played in Barcelona,” said the FAI statement. “The FAI will notify fans when UEFA make a decision.”

In accordance with UEFA guidelines, the perspective venue for the fixture must be confirmed by Sunday, August 8, which is 60 days before the game.
