21:05: So that’s all from us. Expect a full post-mortem in the morning when we’ve had time to adjust to the draw. Thanks again for reading.

21:00: Spain and France in the five team group. Now that will be interesting.

20:58: Ireland to meet Germany. Better than Spain or Holland, but they’re a very good side, and always do well in qualifying.

20:57: Just one team for us to face now. England, Spain, Netherlands, Germany, etc…

20:55: Ireland get second seed Sweden. Norway would be a nice first seed.

20:53: After missing Scotland and Wales, we had to face Brian Kerr, didn’t we? Not too bad so far. An away trip to Kazakhstan won’t be fun. Queue millions of Borat jokes though.

20:52: Group F could well be the easiest for Ireland so far…

20:50: Scotland and Wales to meet again!

20:49: Brian Kerr got a tough draw against Kazakhstan. Won’t be an easy game.

20:46: Wales are in Group A, the first side out. Brian Kerr’s Faroes’ recent victory over Estonia moves them above Wales and into Pot five. Group I only has five teams, while the rest have six.

20:45: Here’s the pots again…
Pot One: ENGLAND, Spain, Holland, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Croatia, Norway, Greece
Pot Two: France, Montenegro, Russia, Sweden, Denmark, Slovenia, Turkey, Serbia, Slovakia
Pot Three: Switzerland, Israel, REPUBLIC OF IRELAND, Belgium, Czech Republic, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Belarus, Ukraine, Hungary
Pot Four: NORTHERN IRELAND, SCOTLAND, Bulgaria, Romania, Georgia, Lithuania, Albania, Austria, Poland
Pot Five: Armenia, Finland, Estonia, Cyprus, Latvia, Moldova, FYR Macedonia, Azerbaijan, Faroe Islands
Pot Six: WALES, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Luxembourg, Malta, Andorra, San Marino

20:44: Nine group winners qualify, eight best second-placed teams go to playoffs. One second placed team misses out. That better not be us.

20:40 Ireland, remember are in Pot 3, so we can’t play the likes of Belgium, Czech Republic, or Ukraine. Ronaldo is pulling out the balls. The retired fat one, not the diving winking one.

20:37: More music, another video, and then we have Europe! Finally.

20:28: Kildare vs Donegal has gone to extra time, so RTE isn’t showing the draw yet. Europe next. Well, in ten minutes, after Oceania…

Group A
USA
Jamaica
Winner of Round Two, Group E
Winner of Round Two, Group F

Group B
Mexico
Costa Rica
Winner of Round Two, Group A
Winner of Round Two, Group B

Group C
Honduras
Cuba
Winner of Round Two, Group D
Winner of Round Two, Group C

20:17: Now drawing Round Three for CONCACAF, where new American boss Jurgen Klinsmann will face Jamaica and two qualifiers.

CONCACAF Round Two

Group A
El Salvador
Surinam
Cayman Islands
Dominican Republic

Group B
Trinidad & Tobago
Guyana
Barbados
Bermuda

Group C
Panama
Dominica
Nicaragua
Bahamas

Group D
Canada
St Kitts and Nevis
Puerto Rico
St Lucia

Group E
Grenada
Guatemala
St Vincent & Grenadines
Belize

Group F
Haiti
Antigua and Barbuda
Curacao
US Virgin Islands

20:11: The top three CONCACAF teams qualify for the World Cup, and the fourth placed team plays against the Oceania winners. Jamaica vs New Zealand, now there is an epic game…

20:07: The first round took place last month, and saw Aruba and Saint Lucia play out a 6-6 aggregate game after two 4-2 home wins. Impressive? Or match fixing? You decide… Round Two draws 5 groups of 4 teams, with the top team from each going onto Round 3, where they’ll be joined by USA, Mexico, Honduras, Jamaica, Costa Rica, and Cuba.

20:05: Oh no! I’ve ruined it on you. It was North, Central American and Caribbean Zone next. That’s CONCACAF to me and you. Or even easier: USA, Mexico, and someone else.

20:00: Oceania is next up. The first round sees American Samoa, Cook Islands, Samoa and Tonga play in a round-robin with only the winner progressing, then there’s a second round where everyone else joins. Two groups of four with two progressing from each to a third round group. Finally, the winner of that will play the fourth-placed North American side. So in other words, you could well be seeing New Zealand in Brazil in 2014.

19:57: You know what every football draw needs? Local musicians.

19:53: Asia Round Three has been unveiled. They’ve already completed the first two rounds, you see…

Group D

Group E

Indonesia

19:51: Welsh boss Gary Speed on Sky Sports News (where else) has announced he wants to avoid France and Ireland. After that Carling Nations Cup drubbing we gave them, I don’t blame him. Also, you hardly thought we were in Brazil, did you? RTE Two has live TV coverage from 8.15 by the way.

19:45: On to Asia now, which as you’ll recall now includes Australia. Africa will have 5 qualifiers, by the way, while Asia will have 4 and one going through to a playoff where they’ll meet a North American (CONCACAF) side.

19:44: That’s Round 2 of Africa over. My God that took ages. Why not make massive groups like we have? Or a big South American-style league?

Group A
South Africa
Botswana
Central African Republic
Somalia or Ethiopia

Group B

19:40: The European draw is expected to take place a minute before half eight, but you know how these things go. So that’s probably 05.30 tomorrow morning. While we wait, let’s have a look at the European Pots, which Michael previewed on Thursday.

Pot One: ENGLAND, Spain, Holland, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Croatia, Norway, Greece
Pot Two: France, Montenegro, Russia, Sweden, Denmark, Slovenia, Turkey, Serbia, Slovakia
Pot Three: Switzerland, Israel, REPUBLIC OF IRELAND, Belgium, Czech Republic, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Belarus, Ukraine, Hungary

Pot Five: Armenia, Finland, Estonia, Cyprus, Latvia, Moldova, FYR Macedonia, Azerbaijan, Faroe Islands
Pot Six: WALES, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Luxembourg, Malta, Andorra, San Marino

19:38: The winner of Royal Rumble, the current hardcore belt holder… Oh sorry, I was confused with all that intercontinental talk. Round One of the African Zone has been announced:

African Zone Round One
Seychelles v Kenya
Guinea-Bissau v Togo
Djibouti v Namibia
Mauritius v Liberia
Comoros v Mozambique
Equatorial Guinea v Madagascar
Somalia v Ethiopia
Lesotho v Burundi
Eritrea v Rwanda
Swaziland v Congo DR
Sao Tome e Principe v Congo
Chad v Tanzania

19:36: Anyhow, things are underway in Brazil, where the Intercontinetal Playoff draw has pitted continental runners-up (and New Zealand) against each other.

Intercontinental Playoffs
Asia v South America
CONCACAF v Oceania

19:35: Sorry for the delay in starting, we had fallen asleep watching all those videos proclaiming the greatness of World Cup 2010. But without a Saipan saga or a David O’Leary spotkick, it just wasn’t the same, was it?
