McGeady was excellent, soon as he came on in the second half the whole team lifted. For all the slating he has got on here McShane was very solid...was impressed with Dunne, he has to be one of the top centre halfs in the world...wasn't impressed with Doyle at all. He holds the ball up well but he isn't a natural centre forward for me. His games to goals ratio for club and country is very poor. Long has to be our best option to partner Keane.
Would much rather see Andrews and Gibson as our midfield choice. In an ideal world I'd like to See S.Ireland and Andy Reid but that will never happen lol.
For me our best team is McClean and McGeady on the wings.
Our back line has to be (from right)
Kelly, O'Shea, Dunne, Ward

Overall we showed some promise against Bosnia and a few great passing moves but we lack enough adventure. We could have the makings of serious outside challengers for the euro title. Only if we play to our strengths and not our shortcomings.

McGeady was clearly man of the match. He really showed himself when he came on.

Looks like I have been proven right.

Kevin Doyle played a stormer.
Shane Long came off the bench to score again.
Jon Walters missed two sitters. The first, a carbon copy of the chance that Long buried.
Ironically, Robbie Keane was probably the worst of the strikers.

Glenn Whelan was as mediocre as he always is, although he did well for the penalty shout. Darron Gibson was marginally better. Duff did okay, some great interplay between himself and Keane though. McClean had an okay game. He probably didn't do enough to overtake Duff or McGeady, who somehow won man of the match. I suppose you have to give it to somebody.

Dunne was a rock at the back as always and O'Dea proved himself an able sidekick again. Ward was no frills but did okay defensively, as did McShane, who would want to simplify things and stop doing Messi impressions.

Westwood was fine in goals and a clean sheet will boost his confidence.

I'm a bit pissed off that Keith Fahey was left on the bench. Hopefully himself and maybe Cox get some action against Hungary, particularly Fahey.

John: Very true, had a busy day visitor-wise yesterday, but that's usual in the run-up to matches.

However, the amount of comments on this post is ridiculous - one comment to every ten views! Keep up the good work guys.

@Ronan: all you need to do is keeping posting stories about McShane and Green. The advertisers will soon be knocking your door down.

I can't understand how any 2nd generation Irish kid that is proud of his heritage could line out for England at any level, but I am willing to accept that some of them don't feel that way. Good to see players like Samir Curruthers and Sean Murray nailing their flag to the mast early on. If Joe Mason has jumped ship it will be very disappointing.

huh? it doesnt matter a shit where they were born...but theyre english born right?
As my old fellah used to say if a horse is born in a pigsty is it a pig or a horse?
Being Irish is in the heart n birthplace doesnt matter one iota

Going off your own statment O'leary and McGrath should have played for england
