Seven teams from the Pistoia region will be represented in the Tuscany Select XI who face the Republic of Ireland tonight.

The game is a warm-up match for Giovanni Trapattoni’s Ireland squad ahead of Euro 2012, and will see all proceeds from the gate going to charity. The players included in the Tuscan selection come from Serie C2 side U.S. Borgo a Buggiano 1920, Serie D’s U.S. Pistoiese 1921, and non-league clubs ASD Terme Montecatini, Ponte Buggianese, Intercomunale Monsummano, ASD Pescia Uzzanese, and Lampo 1919.

None of the players included are household names in Italy, and although Borgo a Buggiano won their Serie D division last season, their star player, Luca Tognozzi who has Serie A experience with Reggina, is not in the squad.

The match kicks off at 20.30 local time, or 19.30 Irish time.

The FAI’s twitter feed is posting constant updates on this game.. 3-0 to Ireland coming up to the end of the first half, two from Keane and one from Cox, apparently playing well off each other up front.

Will Robbie get credit for goals scored to add to his 53 or is this not an official game?
I mean he’s scorting goals for Ireland, right?

Sadly, only Pele was that lucky.

This game won’t count caps or goals.

Finished 5-0, Long and Walters with the 4th and 5th goals. Seemingly no injuries, which is the main thing.
