Coventry City sign Kevin Kilbane
110-time Republic of Ireland international Kevin Kilbane has signed for Coventry City on a one-year deal.
Kilbane, 35, had been without a club after his contract with Hull City expired and has joined the Sky Blues on a free transfer, where he will also be involved with the club’s youth development. Kilbane is the second Irishman to move to the Ricoh Arena this week after Stephen Elliott signed from Hearts.
Coventry manager Andy Thorn decided to sign the Irish veteran after Kilbane impressed in training with the League One club. “This is another great signing for us, ” Thorn told the club’s official website. “You only have to look at the clubs Kevin has played for and his record at international level to know his quality.
“He brings bags of experience to our squad and he will complement the younger players we have here and will help bring them on. Not only will he be an asset on the pitch, he will be a big player in the dressing room too so I am really pleased that we have acted quickly to bring him in.”
Coventry City kick off their nPower League 1 campaign on August 18th against Yeovil Town.
