Everton have unveiled new signing Aiden McGeady after bringing in the Republic of Ireland international from Spartak Moscow for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old has agreed a four-and-a-half year deal at Goodison Park, where he will join international teammates Seamus Coleman, Darron Gibson, and James McCarthy. Roberto Martinez is rumoured to have paid £2.5 million to Spartak for the services of the winger, having previously tried to sign him while at Wigan Athletic.

McGeady moved to Russia for £9.5 million in 2010, having impressed for Celtic in the Champions League. A statement on the Spartak Moscow website read: “Spartak and Everton have reached an agreement in principle on the transfer of 27-year-old midfielder Aiden McGeady to the English club. Spartak Moscow thanks Aiden for the years he has spent with the team and wishes him success in his future career.”

Good move, good solid premiership club and a good manager too. Will help get improved performances from McGeady for Ireland.

Great move for Everton and Ireland. So the blues will have McGeady, Coleman, McCarthy, Gibson and Duffy. When Gibson comes back and Barry leaves we could potentially have four Irish starters in the Champions League next near if they can finish top four. The future of Irish fooball is looking much brighter.

On another point of interest Coleman is being described in some circles as one the top full backs in the world at the moment and I agree but he wasn’t good enough to make Traps starting 11. Pretty sad.

Great move for McGeady. McGeady admitted today in an interview he was not in shape as he did not play much recently at Spartak…That is obvious looking at the photo – he surely needs to lose a few pounds…Hopefully Martinez will get him fit, and he will be playing regularly in a month..

Yeah. His gut is almost as big as mine.
