Scunthorpe United have signed Republic of Ireland international striker Paddy Madden for an undisclosed fee from Yeovil Town.

The striker, who had fallen out of favour with Glovers manager Gary Johnson, is looking forward to a fresh start at his new club. “I can’t wait to help Scunthorpe with their promotion push,” Madden told the club’s official website. “I’m relishing the chance to play for Scunthorpe and help them do well.

“I have had the feeling of promotion last season with Yeovil and I am hungry for more promotion so I am excited by this new challenge.

“Things were not working out at Yeovil Town so when I got told the chairman and gaffer here was on to me I was interested. Scunthorpe are a very ambitious club and I want to be part of that.

“Winning titles is what I strive to do. I want to win as much silverware as I can. We are in a fantastic position at the top of the league and I want to come in here and help them win the league.”
